Monaco forward Breel Embolo out for several months with ACL injury

AS Monaco forward Breel Embolo (26) has sustained a serious ACL injury during training, the Principality club has announced. The Switzerland international will miss several months of competition and will likely miss the better part of the Ligue 1 campaign.

Embolo’s participation in the Germany-hosted 2024 UEFA European Championships may also be in doubts. Since his transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach last year, Embolo has logged 14 goals and four assists in 42 games played with Les Monégasques. Embolo’s Monaco contract runs until the summer of 2026.

The Swiss international’s long spell on the sidelines may compel Monaco to dip in the transfer market for a centre-forward. Adi Hütter’s side can only rely on struggling Dutch forward Myron Boadu (22), club captain Wissam Ben Yedder (32) and Kevin Volland (31) to take on compensate for Embolo’s absence. The latter two are both entering the final year of their contracts.

Everyone here at Get French Football News wishes Breel Embolo a swift recovery.
