Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder accused of sexual assault and rape – reports

Nice Matin are reporting this afternoon that AS Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder has been accused by two complainants of sexual assault and rape.

Initial reports indicate that the purported events took place earlier this week. The complaints were lodged at a local police station in Cagnes-sur-Mer.

Information relayed by France Info suggests that the two women, aged 19 and 20 respectively, have accused the French international of sexual assault during a night out. The former Sevilla star’s younger brother has also been cited by the plaintiffs. No hearing or arrest has taken place at this stage, add France Info.

The local prosecutors’ office in nearby Grasse, situated in the Alpes-Maritimes region have confirmed the reception of said complaints, as indicated by Nice-Matin, and have subsequently transferred them to the public prosecutor’s office in Nice.

The 32 year-old, who has represented the South Coast side on 167 occasions, scored 19 league goals last season, helping steer AS Monaco to a 6th placed finish in Ligue 1.
