Rennes predicted XI v Nantes: Martin Terrier to miss out through illness

Rennes striker Martin Terrier was expected to make his long-awaited return for this Sunday’s night clash against bitter rivals FC Nantes. However, the free-scoring French forward will miss out through illness. Terrier ruled himself out of the game. “Unfortunately, I will miss tonight’s derby (…). I’m ill and therefore unavailable for the game. I’m disappointed and frustrated to miss the event, but the setback is only temporary“, Terrier wrote on X. The former Lyon centre-forward may make his return to the Roazhon Park next Sunday when Paris Saint-Germain come to town.

Terrier’s absence tonight means that Turkish international centre-forward Bertug Yildirim is expected to start his third game in row up front, although Rennes manager Bruno Genesio can now also rely on Arnaud Kalimuendo. The PSG youth product has recovered from a hamstring strain. Former Chelsea and Manchester United man Nemanja Matic is due to partner Benjamin Bourigeaud in a double midfield pivot. L’Equipe are reporting that former Nantes playmaker Ludovic Blas is due to start against his former teammates. Rennes v Nantes will start tonight at 8:45 pm CET.

Rennes likely lineup v Nantes:

Steve Mandanda; Lorenz Assignon, Warmed Omari, Arthur Theate, Adrien Truffert; Benjamin Bourigeaud, Nemanja Matic, Ludovic Blas, Amine Gouiri, Ibrahim Salah; Bertug Yildirim
