Official | Former Monaco boss Philippe Clement appointed as Rangers manager

Glasgow Rangers have officially confirmed the appointment of former Monaco boss Philippe Clement as their new manager. The Belgian coach has been confirmed as Michael Beale’s successor at the Ibrox. The former Brugge coach has been unemployed since he was sacked by Monaco in June.

Clement was sacked as Monaco manager after Les Monégasques failed to qualify for European football. He takes charge of the Glasgow club on a three-and-a-half-year contract. The former Coventry City player was replaced by Adi Hütter at the principality club.

Rangers have been searching for a new manager since Michael Beale was sacked as head coach after just ten months in charge at the Ibrox. However, they have now appointed Clement. The former defender takes charge of Rangers with the Glasgow club 2nd and 7 points behind Celtic. The 49-year-old took charge of 73 matches at Monaco during his 18-month spell at the Stade Louis II. Clement’s most successful spell in club management was with Club Brugge where he won three Jupiler Pro League titles and a Belgian cup.
