Transfer News Round-Up 19/2/13

We take a look at some of this morning’s transfer stories relating to French Football.

Jeremie Aliadiere has announced he is missing England and has never felt comfortable playing in France in an interview with France Football published this morning. The former Arsenal and Middlesborough man has arguably had the best season of his career this time around, scoring 10 goals this season for Lorient.

Lyon remain confident they can tie attacking midfielder Clement Grenier down by agreeing a new long-term contract. Initial discussions have already taken place, but Grenier himself has always distanced himself from committing his future. Juventus were interested in bringing the player in in January.

L’Equipe are reporting this morning that Lille will make a move for Nancy centre-back Julian Jeanvier if they lose Aurelien Chedjou in summer. The latter player has been linked with a move towards Eastern Europe, potentially Russia or Turkey.

Dortmund continue to track Lyon pair Lisandro Lopez and Bafetimbi Gomis with Robert Lewandowski’s exit looking more and more likely.

Russian press reporting that Dejan Lovren, the Lyon central defender is likely to have a bid made for him by Liverpool in the summer as they line up possible replacements for the retiring Jamie Carragher. Everton are also another side linked as they look to bring some youth into their defence.

Marseille have yesterday confirmed the contract extension of Mathieu Valbuena until 2017, but there is a twist. The player’s contract will only extend from 2015 onwards if each year the club secures Champions League qualification for the following season. Otherwise, Valbuena will be free to leave.

Laurent Blanc, the ex-French national side manager, is understood to be at the top of Inter Milan‘s list as they look for a new manager to replace Andrea Stramaccioni.

The Sebastien Corchia transfer saga rolls on, as we have informed you, Lyon are most likely to try and sign him in the summer if they decide not to offer Anthony Reveillere a new contract, meaning he would be a free agent in June. According to Canal +, many foreign clubs are interested in the U21 right-back too. They suggest Champions League finalists Bayern Munich have made enquiries.

Arsenal scouts were present in Bordeaux on Sunday to watch Maxime Gonalons, the defensive midfielder play in Lyon’s 4-0 win over Girondins.

French press also reporting that Arsenal had scouts present to watch Angelo Ogbonna play for Torino against Atlanta at the weekend. The centre-back has also recently been scouted by Everton and Liverpool.

Nabil Ghilas of Moreirense is being closely monitored by Marseille. OM, who have been long-term admirers of the Algerian 22-year old attacker. However, FC Twente and Sporting Lisbon are equally interested.

Guy Lacombe, the ex-PSG manager has been sacked by Arabic club Al-Wasl.
