Vinicius Jr. on playing with Kylian Mbappé: “Everyone wants to play with him”

In a recent interview with France Football, Vinicius Jr. (23) spoke about the prospect of playing with Kylian Mbappé, football’s fight against racism, Jude Bellingham and his aspirations to win the Ballon d’Or.

Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid has been one of the longest running transfer sagas in football and it is far from reaching its final conclusion. However, with Madrid officials confident that the France captain will make the move to the Santiago Bernabéu, Vinicius Jr. was asked about the prospect of playing with him to which he said, “Everyone wants to play with Kylian (Mbappé) here. I hope it happens one day, he is one of the best players, perhaps the best”.

Many people were worried about the impact that Karim Benzema’s departure would have on the Real Madrid attack, with the Brazilian expressing his sadness that he left. However, surprisingly, Jude Bellingham has stepped into the limelight as the club’s main goal scorer. When talking about the impact of the England international, Vinicius Jr. said “Jude is one of the best in the world and the whole club loves him. He scores goals and he is happy. He chose the best club”.

The Madrid forward also spoke about football’s fight against racism. The Brazil international has been subject to racial abuse several times in La Liga and spoke about the fight, “I know I am not going to make history, I am not going to make Spain a country without racists.” The 23-year-old also commented on the need for people to raise their voices more, saying “Of course, we need to be all in unison. If I face racism alone, the system will easily crush me. When we are all together, when important people take up the subject, like Kylian (Mbappé), like Neymar…, that necessarily has more weight.”

France Football also quizzed the former Flamengo forward on his ambitions to win the Ballon d’Or, to which he replied “I hope so, but the team comes first… If I score 60 goals in a season but we don’t win, it’s no use. How can I win a Ballon d’Or if my team didn’t win anything in the end? I think we all work together. And then, one day, like for Modric, like for Karim, one of ours is crowned (the winner). It is a dream.“
