Lyon manager Fabio Grosso calls for unity following midweek mole hunt

Following his attempts to identify the mole within the dressing room in midweek, Olympique Lyonnais manager Fabio Grosso has called for unity.

According to L’ÉquipeGrosso cancelled Lyon’s training session on Tuesday as he looked to identify the leak in Lyon’s dressing room. It came after Jerôme Rothen, speaking on his show on RMC Sport, claimed that Grosso was not only under pressure after just four games in the dugout at the Groupama Stadium, but was also the subject of unflattering remarks from one of his players. Rothen said that an unnamed player from OL’s dressing room told him that Grosso was “one of the worst managers he had ever had.”

Grosso confronted his players about the information being leaked to the press on Tuesday, with no one admitting to speaking to Rothen. As a result, the subsequent training session was cancelled. Speaking ahead of Lyon’s clash against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday, Grosso addressed the situation and made a call for unity.

I will try to say everything, at least everything I can say because some things stay inside the group,” began the Italian. “I know what the people who work with me think of me […] I wanted to speak with the players because, for me, the dressing room is sacred. I have never liked making a scene. I like to do my job and do it well, as I want to. I spoke with them because something leaked that I didn’t like. The dressing room is important, it is where we construct our future. It is already difficult to construct that at the moment, so we need to all be together. I think the players understood and we’ll move forward,” added Grosso in a press conference transcribed by L’Équipe
