The Australian head coach is coming under increasing pressure following L’ESTAC’s poor start to the Ligue 2 season. The club, who were relegated from Ligue 1 last season, are currently sat in 16th place after 9 matches.

City Football Group are set to discuss the future of the former Melbourne City boss on Tuesday. However, it looks ominous for Kisnorbo. Even if Troyes had beaten Saint Étienne on Saturday, they lost 1-0, his future had already been decided according to L’Est Éclair. Reports following Troyes’ defeat to ASSE on Saturday have described the Australian’s position as “very weak“.

In the aftermath of the match, when facing the media, Kisnorbo was asked about his future, he replied by saying “The most important thing for me is the players. My role is to protect them. Concerning me, contact the people concerned.” When asked to comment on Kisnorbo’s future, Troyes’ general manager Mattijs Mander said “Not today“. With fans restless about the club’s form, City Football Group’s final decision on Tuesday will be highly anticipated.

Troyes set to sign Algerian international Mehdi Tahrat https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/troyes-set-to-sign-algerian-international-mehdi-tahrat/ https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/troyes-set-to-sign-algerian-international-mehdi-tahrat/#respond Sun, 10 Sep 2023 21:45:44 +0000 https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/?p=130121 Sports Zone are reporting that ESTAC Troyes are set to sign free agent Mehdi Tahrat (33) in the coming hours. The Algerian international has a verbal agreement in place to join the Ligue 2 side.

Tahrat has been a free agent since the expiry of his contract at Qatari side Al-Gharafa SC earlier this summer. However, prior to moving to the Middles East, initially to Saudi Arabian side Abha, and then to Qatar, the Algerian centre-back accrued a great wealth of experience in French football. Tahrat has played for RC Lens, SCO Angers, Valenciennes FC, Red Star FC, Paris FC, Évry FC, Sainte Geneviève and Lille OSC’s B-team.

Capped by Algeria 15 times, Tahrat has racked up 80 appearances in Ligue 2, 14 in Ligue 1, and 33 in the National division. He now looks set to return to France and join Troyes, who are looking to bounce back after last season’s relegation to Ligue 2. After reaching a verbal agreement to join Patrick Kisnorbo’s side, the transfer is set to be completed on Monday, according to Sports Zone.

Official | Troyes’ Mama Baldé joins Lyon on loan https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/official-troyes-mama-balde-joins-lyon-on-loan/ https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/official-troyes-mama-balde-joins-lyon-on-loan/#respond Wed, 30 Aug 2023 20:16:46 +0000 https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/?p=129037 Olympique Lyonnais have officially announced the signing of ESTAC Troyes striker Mama Baldé (27) on a €2m loan with a €6m option to make the move permanent.

The 27-year-old Guinea-Bissau international was arguably the Aubois side’s best player last season. Unfortunately, his 12 goals and four assists were not enough to save the City Football Group-owned Troyes from a Ligue 2 relegation.

Lyon were in the market for an experienced striker in order to provide competition for returning hero Alexandre Lacazette, who notched a remarkable 27 Ligue 1 goals last season. The former Arsenal forward will miss the next two league games through suspension. Meanwhile, Lyon are looking to offload struggling Swedish striker Amin Sarr to Wolfsburg in what would be a €15m deal.  Les Gones will reportedly now focus their attention on the signing of a defensive midfielder during the final days of the summer transfer window, which closes on Friday.

Lyon set to sign Mama Baldé on loan https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/lyon-set-to-sign-mama-balde-on-loan/ https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/lyon-set-to-sign-mama-balde-on-loan/#respond Tue, 29 Aug 2023 19:36:14 +0000 https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/?p=128923 Lyon have won the race to sign sought-after ESTAC Troyes forward Mama Baldé (27), according to a report this Tuesday from L’Equipe. The outlet understands that the Guinea-Bissau international will undergo his medical on Wednesday. Telefoot broke the news on Sunday that Les Gones had entered the race to sign Baldé, rivalling Premier League side Sheffield United and an unnamed Ligue 1 side. The 27-year-old effectively agreed to join Laurent Blanc’s side with a view to compete with Alexandre Lacazette for the centre-forward role. The former Arsenal man will miss the next two games through suspension.

Despite a contract that runs until 2025, Baldé was expected to leave the Ligue 2 side months after their relegation to the second-tier. The striker was arguably Troyes’ best player last season, logging 12 goals and four assists. Lyon and the City Football Group-owned club have reportedly shaken hands over a season-long loan including a €8m permanent option for Baldé. The plane carrying the striker from Troyes to Lyon landed at around 9:20pm.

L’Equipe adds that Lyon will now try to wrap up the arrival of a defensive midfielder with Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez and AC Milan’s Rade Krunic touted as priority targets.

Lyon rival Sheffield United for the signing of Troyes’ Mama Baldé https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/lyon-rival-sheffield-united-for-the-signing-of-troyes-mama-balde/ https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/lyon-rival-sheffield-united-for-the-signing-of-troyes-mama-balde/#respond Sat, 26 Aug 2023 16:02:21 +0000 https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/?p=128631 Téléfoot report that Olympique Lyonnais have entered the race to sign ESTAC Troyes forward Mama Baldé (27), who is also the subject of interest from Premier League side Sheffield United.

Les Gones have submitted a first bid to their Troyes counterparts with talks currently underway between the involved parties. The Guinea-Bissau international would be keen to join Laurent Blanc’s side. Baldé is expected to part ways with Troyes in the wake of the City Football Group-owned team’s relegation to the second tier. The 27-year-old’s contract Troyes runs until 2025. Baldé was arguably Troyes’ best player last season, logging 12 goals and four assists.

L’Équipe understands that Baldé would be used as Alexandre Lacazette’s understudy for the centre-forward role. The Aubois striker’s arrival is therefore not linked to Bradley Barcola’s uncertain future at the Groupama Stadium. The Lyon youth product and France U21 international handed in a transfer request yesterday. L’Équipe adds that Lyon would favour a loan move rather than a permanent deal. Troyes are expected to demand €10m to let go of their prized asset. A yet unnamed Ligue 1 side are also keeping tabs on Baldé. Lyon would be keen to offload struggling strikers Tino Kadewere and Amin Sarr.

A €6m fee is being touted.

The Guinea-Bissau international’s contract with Troyes runs until the summer of 2025, however, following the club’s relegation to Ligue 2 last season, a departure is on the cards as we enter into the final week of the transfer window. Baldé is yet to feature for the Aubois side this campaign, but last season in Ligue 1, he scored 12 goals in 34 games.

Baldé also registered four assists as Patrick Kisnorbo’s side were one of four sides relegated to the second tier of French football. That form caught the eye of newly promoted Premier League side Sheffield United, who are in the market for a replacement for Iliman Ndiaye, who joined Olympique de Marseille earlier this summer.

Negotiations between Sheffield United and Troyes over Baldé’s transfer have been ongoing these past few days, and the fee being touted is just over €6m.

Burnley reportedly spent €12m excluding bonuses to bring the teenager to Turf Moor. The French winger has been given the #47 jersey with Vincent Kompany’s side. “I want to play as much as possible at Burnley“, said Odobert. “Do well with the team, stay in the team and do as well as I possibly can.” Odobert attended the Clarets’ first Premier League home game of the season last night against Manchester City – with the visitors comprehensively winning 3-0. It is being reported that Burnley are on the search for more French talent during the current window. Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey reportedly features on the Clarets’ shortlist.

Odobert travelled to England earlier this week after being given permission to do so by Ligue 2 side ESTAC Troyes’ owners City Football Group. Burnley will pay Troyes a €12m fee excluding bonuses to tie down the teenager. Odobert has signed a 5-year contract and will wear the #47 shirt.

Odobert joined Troyes last summer straight from the PSG youth academy and was notably targeted by a number of European sides, opting in the end to join the French outfit that is part of the City Football Group apparatus.

Odobert played 32 Ligue 1 matches last season, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists in a league campaign that was marred by indecision around coaches and a lack of a clear playing style.
