Billal Brahimi set to leave Nice amid Brest interest

Billal Brahimi (23) is expected to leave OGC Nice before the closure of the transfer window on Friday night, according to L’ÉquipeStade Brestois have registered an internet in the Algerian winger.

Since his €7m move from SCO Angers in January 2022, Brahimi has struggled to establish himself in the first team. The Algerian international, who came through the ranks at Middlesbrough, has made 54 appearances for Nice, scoring five goals and registering two assists. However, of his 32 appearances for Les Aiglons in Ligue 1, only seven have been starts.

During his time on the Riviera, he has worked with many coaches, without ever being a regular choice for either. That seems to be the case under Francesco Farioli as well. Brahimi has featured in two of the first three games but only accumulated nine minutes worth of playing time.

A departure is, therefore, to be expected this week, and according to L’Équipe, Brest are exploring a move for Brahimi. The club are negotiating a loan with an option to make the move permanent. The Algerian international, whose contract expires in 2026, is attracting interest from elsewhere also.
