Aaron Ramsey “happy” with Nice’s Europa Conference League draw against Sheriff Tiraspol

OGC Nice midfielder Aaron Ramsey (32) said that he is “happy” with the club’s draw against Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa Conference League.

Having finished top of their group, Les Aiglons skipped a round, but now come up against Moldovan table-toppers Sheriff, who are most well-known for beating Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in 2021. Sheriff dropped down from the Europa League after finishing third in a group that contained Manchester United and Real Sociedad.

Speaking in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Ramsey said that he was happy with the draw. “I think we can be happy with the draw. We did well to qualify top of the group and skip a round so we’re excited. Obviously, I have a bit of experience in Europe so I know how difficult these games can be. We must look forward to these games, these atmospheres. We play away first so it will be nice to come back with a result and hopefully qualify in front of our fans,” he said.

His manager, Didier Digard, was a bit more cautious in his assessment of the draw. “If they’ve got this far then it’s because they have quality, especially since they’ve come from the Europa League and from a difficult group. We’ll have a lot of time to prepare to be ready for the duel when it arrives,” he said.

The first leg takes place in Moldova on 9th March before the return leg at the Allianz Riviera on 16th March.
