Whilst the new owners of Manchester United are not yet known, the INEOS bid, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe is “well placed,” according to Nice-Matin. However, OGC Nice manager Didier Digard has said that should Nice’s owners purchase the Premier League, it won’t alter their commitment to Les Aiglons.
Reports suggest that a decision over the sale of Manchester United will be made soon. Ratcliffe, a boyhood fan of the Red Devils, is in competition with a Qatari consortium. However, for Digard, who is in interim charge at Nice, there is no worry about faltering commitment from the club’s owners, who have repeatedly restated their commitment and ambition for the club, even during last season’s failed takeover of Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Speaking ahead of Nice’s match against Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace this Saturday, Digard spoke about Ratcliffe’s potential takeover of Nice.”For me, Manchester (United) is something else. I don’t think we’re dependent on it. The boss (Jim Ratcliffe) has made such an investment at Nice that he can get himself the present of Manchester. I’ll be happy for him because we know that it’s something that matters to him. We know that he won’t withdraw from Nice. For us it will change nothing,” said Digard in a conference, transcribed by L’Équipe.
He continued, “For us, there are issues with Financial Fair Play. We can’t just do whatever we want. The project may be difficult to understand from the outside, but I can guarantee you that internally, people are giving 100% to grow this club.”
