PSG’s Marco Asensio and Presnel Kimpembe to miss Newcastle tie

Paris Saint-Germain have announced their squad for the Champions League trip to Newcastle United on Wednesday night. Marco Asensio and Presnel Kimpembe have not made the list. Both are returning from injuries.

Kimpembe suffered an achilles injury back in February and has not featured since. However, the Frenchman is nearing his return, although not quickly enough to feature at St James’ Park. Asensio’s injury is not so long-term. The former Real Madrid forward was injured on international duty with Spain, and Luis de la Fuente said at the time that Asensio could be absent until the next international break in mid-October.

Whilst Asensio could feature against Stade Rennais on Sunday, he won’t make the trip to Newcastle. There aren’t any surprises in Luis Enrique’s squad. Lee Kang-in is still on international duty with South Korea, whilst Cher Ndour, Layvin Kurzawa and Hugo Ekitiké are not eligible to feature in the Champions League.
