PSG: Daniel Riolo slams ‘problematic’ Kylian Mbappé preparation for Newcastle clash

Paris Saint-Germain found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-1 thrashing by Newcastle United in the Champions League yesterday evening, the worst defeat in the group stage in the QSI era for Les Parisiens. The fallout from  the loss has not spared France captain Kylian Mbappé (24), who faced a scathing critique from Daniel Riolo, a prominent member of RMC Sport‘s “After Foot” show.

“Mbappé, I remember his famous comment last year about Neymar, ‘we need to eat well, sleep well.’ Mbappé had a lackluster preparation due to his exclusion from the team. When you have such a preparation, you need to work harder and perform better. But it seems Mbappé is becoming the leader of the wildest parties in Paris right now,” Riolo remarked.

The aftermath of a turbulent summer, filled with transfer rumours and his temporary sidelining by PSG, appears to have disrupted Mbappé’s focus and fitness levels according to the former PSG man. Riolo continued, “It’s more than problematic. The parties Mbappé is throwing in Paris currently and the reputation he’s building in the city, he should be very cautious about the consequences that might come his way soon.”

Riolo didn’t stop there, expressing his concern about Mbappé’s changing image. “I had already warned about this! Beware of what Kylian Mbappé is turning into, and be mindful of what people are starting to say about him everywhere.”

With just three points from their first two European matches, PSG currently sit second in Group G behind Newcastle. The French giants have a crucial clash against AC Milan on October 25th, a game that will once again place the spotlight firmly on Kylian Mbappé.
