PSG midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery becomes youngest ever Frenchman to provide an assist in the Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery (17) has etched his name in Champions League history by becoming the youngest-ever Frenchman to provide an assist in the competition, according to Statsdufoot.

The PSG midfield prodigy delivered an inch-perfect lofted ball for left-back Lucas Hernandez to head in Les Parisiens‘ first goal of what has been a chastening night so far for Luis Enrique’s team. Before Zaïre-Emery, who is also the current France U21 skipper, the youngest Frenchman to provide an assist in the Champions League was then 18-year-old Raphaël Varane for his debut season with Real Madrid in 2011.

PSG eventually lost 4-1 against the Toons. This is the first time that PSG has conceded four goals in a Champions League group stage since their 4-3 defeat at La Coruña, in 2000. Wednesday’s result is the heaviest Champions League group stage loss for PSG in the QSI era. Statsdufoot also mentioned that Paris Saint-Germain have never kept a clean sheet in their last 14 away games in the Champions League.
