Valenciennes: Borja Lopez on hold, Gaetan Bong gone

Valenciennes President Legrand will be the first to admit that his side have had a difficult summer transfer window, losing key players in Nicolas Isimat Mirin, Remi Gomis and Gael Danic for relatively little. Unfortunately, there is more bad news for VAFC.

RMC Sport’s transfer window correspondent Mohamed Bouhafsi told our Get French Football News Show this morning that Valenciennes’ priority at the moment is to sign centre back Borja Lopez on loan from Monaco a player they have recently acquired themselves.

‘The relations between Valenciennes and Monaco are very good. However, Mr Ranieri wants to see Borja Lopez in training to decide if he needs him in the squad this season. Because maybe this is a player he will us this year and not next year.’

Either way, Valenciennes are holding on for the moment but have other targets in Romania and Bulgaria who they could turn to.

Meanwhile they are set to lose their prized full back Gaetan Bong imminently. Get French Football News told you on Friday that the player was to travel to Greece on Saturday for a medical with Olympiakos

RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi added this morning that he expects the player to remain in Greece for several days to take the final decision and smooth over the rough edges remaining in the way of this deal.
