Kader Bamba loaned to Saint-Étienne, Niels Nkounkou also expected

As reported by Le Progrès, FC Nantes winger Kader Bamba has been loaned to Saint-Étienne until the end of this season. The loan contract, which does not include an option to buy, will see the 28-year-old return to France’s second division, where he  previously played for Amiens SC on loan last season.

Saint-Étienne are in dire straits. Relegated last season from the French top flight, they now find themselves at the bottom of Ligue 2. The club is looking to the January transfer window for reinforcements as they see to revitalise their season, just as it nears its halfway point. Bamba, who has only made four league appearances for Nantes, will look to this opportunity for more game time, and a chance to help rescue them from further misery.

Kader Bamba is not their only target: Everton’s Niels Nkounkou, on loan at Cardiff City, is also expected to join Les Verts on loan. The 22-year-old French left-back has played in 18 matches in the Championship, where he has provided one assist and has kept four clean sheets.
