Official | Auxerre sign Ghana international midfielder Elisha Owusu

Auxerre have this afternoon announced the signing of Ghanaian international midfielder Elisha Owusu, joining from Belgian side Gent on a deal running until the end of the 2024/25 season.

The Paris native, who came through the youth academy at Lyon, had been playing north of the border since 2019, joining the Flemish side from Les Gones after 33 appearances during a loan spell at Sochaux the previous campaign, in Ligue 2.

The midfielder has gone on to establish himself as one of the Jupiler League’s best, racking up 126 appearances in all competitions, including European campaigns, and winning a Belgian cup title last season.

Owusu joins his compatriot Gideon Mensah in Burgundy, with whom he travelled to the World Cup this winter. He becomes the relegation battlers’ fourth signing of the month, after the loan arrivals of Akim Zedadka, Matthis Abline and Isaak Touré, from Lille, Rennes and Marseille respectively.
