RMC’s Daniel Riolo: “What trace is left by Messi at PSG? Nothing.”

According to Daniel Riolo, a journalist and pundit for RMC Sport, Lionel Messi’s time at Paris Saint-Germain has been a “failure“, and he would welcome his departure at the end of the season. Riolo claimed that Messi never wanted to play for PSG and that he did not understand the significance of the fans’ disapproval.

Riolo stated in The After Foot podcast, “The madness of extending his contract could have been a consequence of a qualification. I’m not saying it would have been a good thing, far from it, but these kinds of stupid things can happen after a success.

“Once PSG was eliminated, obviously the easiest player to push out is Messi: he’s out of contract, he’s a player who never wanted to be there, he came because Barcelona couldn’t pay him anymore, and PSG was the only club that could afford him. He’s had a bit of a hard time settling in, a little better this year, but he’s not happy, there’s trouble with the fans, he didn’t understand that it’s not him they’re booing but the symbol. End of story.”

Riolo went on to say, “When you’re a PSG supporter, what memory will you have of him? What mark will he have left? Nothing, zero, zilch.” He also claimed that Neymar was the biggest flop in PSG’s history.

It remains to be seen what will happen to Messi and whether he will leave PSG at the end of the season, especially following reports from the Argentine’s entourage claiming that reports about the World Cup winner’s departure is”fake news”.
