Jérôme Rothen delights at Lionel Messi’s potential departure from PSG

According to RMC Sport, former AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain player Jérôme Rothen has expressed his delight at the prospect of Lionel Messi leaving PSG and returning to Barcelona. Messi was expected to continue his PSG adventure until the World Cup in Qatar, but he has yet to sign a contract extension with the French club, leading to rumors of a potential return to his former club.

Rothen, who is known for his outspokenness and often criticises his former team, believes that Messi’s departure would be beneficial for all parties involved. In an interview with RMC Sport, Rothen said, “It’s a good thing for everyone. We don’t want any last-minute changes. Goodbye and good luck, Leo!”

Going a step further to criticise the player, Rothen added “You haven’t represented the Paris Saint-Germain shirt as you should have. But you will still be remembered in football history. I’ve read that Barcelona wants to get him back, and I wish him all the best. He’s in love with the city and the club. He’s never hidden that, and whenever he has two days off, he goes to Barcelona…at least he’ll be there and make an effort.”
