Inter Milan reach agreement with Bayern Munich to sign Benjamin Pavard

Benjamin Pavard (27) is due to leave Bayern Munich to join Inter Milan after both clubs had reached an agreement, according to a report this Monday from L’Equipe. The 27-year-old versatile defender was entering the final year of his contract with the Bavarian giants and made no mystery of his desire to move on. It has been previously reported that Manchester United had labelled Pavard a priority signing, should Harry Maguire’s (30) move to West Ham United be confirmed. However, Maguire’s move to the Hammers collapsed.

Inter Milan swiftly pounced and found an agreement on personal terms with Pavard, who expressed his wish to join the Nerazzurri. The Serie A side already tried to lure the France international back in January when it transpired that Inter centre-back Milan Škriniar could join PSG during the winter transfer window. Bayern rejected the proposal. Now, it appears that Thomas Tuchel’s side have resigned themselves to parting ways with the 2018 World Cup winner with France. L’Equipe understands that the Bundesliga reigning champions have accepted Inter’s €30m bid with a further €2m in performance-related bonuses for the French centre-back, who can also fill in at right-back.

However, Bayern now need to find a replacement for Pavard before allowing the latter to seal his move with the Serie A side. The former Lille youth product has featured 163 times with Bayern, winning four Bundesliga accolades and the 2020 Champions League title since his €35m move from VFB Stuttgart in 2019.
