Monaco predicted XI v Strasbourg: Denis Zakaria to make his debut?

New signings Denis Zakaria and Wilfried Singo, who both joined AS Monaco earlier this week, are in the squad to face RC Strasbourg Alsace on Sunday. One, or both, could make their debut against Les Alsaciens.

The match has been moved from 17:00 (CEST) to 19:00 (CEST) due to the ongoing heatwave. Monaco have a shortage of options in defence currently. Axel Disasi has left the club, whilst new signing Mohammed Salisu is suffering from an adductor issue. Yllan Okou is also absent. The arrivals of Zakaria, who is capable of featuring in a three-man defence, and Singo, capable of playing centre-back or right-back, are timely.

Soungoutou Magassa may retain his starting position in the back-three, alongside Guillermo Mairpán, who is also a doubt. Singo is in line to start on the right of the defence. Options up front aren’t plentiful either. Breel Embolo is out for multiple months with an ACL injury, and Kevin Volland was sold to Union Berlin in midweek. Myron Boadu wasn’t involved in group training on Friday, but he is nonetheless in the squad. Wissam Ben Yedder will lead the line.

Monaco likely lineup v Strasbourg

Philipp Köhn – Soungoutou Magassa, Guillermo Maripán, Wilfried Singo – Caio Henrique, Mohamed Camara, Youssouf Fofana, Vanderson – Aleksandr Golovin, Wissam Ben Yedder, Takumi Minamino.
