Wolves enter race to sign Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra

Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to submit an opening offer to RC Strasbourg Alsace to sign their highly-rated midfielder Habib Diarra (19), according to a report this Tuesday from L’Équipe.

The BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 outfit were previously firmly against letting go of one of their breakout players. Now it appears that Strasbourg have opened the door to his transfer. RC Lens were touted as the club leading the race for the defensive midfielder’s signing. However, the Artois side have seen his three bids turned down.

The last bid sent by Lens was worth €20m including performance-related add-ons. Now, L’Équipe understands that Wolves, who have also reportedly submitted a €15m offer for Strasbourg midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, are ready to pounce. The Premier League have reportedly given the green light to Diarra’s arrival and the club and are set to test the waters with an opening bid. Aged only 19, Diarra was one of Strasbourg’s unsung heroes in their late push to save the club from relegation last season. He has started in Strasbourg’s last two league games.
