Javier Ribalta set to leave Marseille

According to L’Équipe,

According to L’ÉquipeOlympique de Marseille’s director of football, Javier Ribalta, is set to leave the club. His decision is linked to the meeting with supporters groups in September, which drove Marcelino out of the club.

In the wake of the meeting in mid-September, during which fan groups reportedly levelled threats at Marseille’s hierarchy, many of the club’s executives, including president Pablo Longoria and Ribalta, stepped back. Longoria, Pedro Iriondo, Stéphane Tessier and David Friio all reportedly considered their positions with Les Phocéens, but ultimately, all decided to return to the club.

However, the same cannot be said for Ribalta. The Spaniard has since returned to Marseille’s Commanderie training complex, but only within the last week. He has not changed his mind. Whilst his colleagues reconsidered their decision to leave the club, Ribalta still wishes for a departure. No one is standing in his way, and discussions regarding the formalities of his exit are currently taking place.
