Lyon predicted XI vs Marseille: Nicolás Tagliafico returns following punishment

Lyon will continue the search for their first Ligue 1 victory of the season as they travel to the Stade Vélodrome to face Marseille in the first Olympico of the season. OL currently sit at the foot of the table in Ligue 1 with no wins to their name.

The biggest team news ahead of the match was that Fabio Grosso had decided to leave Rayan Cherki out of the squad. Cherki is not thought to be injured. Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Duje Ćaleta-Car have also been left out at the choice of the former Frosinone head coach.

L’Équipe reports that Grosso is set to reinstate Nicolás Tagliafico into the starting eleven after the World Cup winner was dropped for going to watch Argentina play in the Rugby World Cup semi-final. The rest of the defence should remain unchanged from Lyon’s 2-1 defeat to Clermont.

Skelly Alvero and Corentin Tolisso are expected to start in midfield in place of Paul Akouokou and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The other change will see Ernest Nuamah returning to the starting eleven in replacement of Rayan Cherki who isn’t in the matchday squad.

Lyon likely XI vs Marseille:

Anthony Lopes – Clinton Mata, Dejan Lovren, Jake O’Brien, Nicolás Tagliafico – Maxence Caqueret, Skelly Alvero, Corentin Tolisso – Ernest Nuamah, Alexandre Lacazette, Jeffinho
