As reported by France Bleu, the pitch at Nice’s Allianz Riviera is set to be relayed after heavy criticism from people associated with the French game. With the hosting of Rugby World Cup matches, some Ligue 1 stadiums have seen their pitches decimated as a result.
The pitch at the Allianz Riviera has been one of the worst affected and Dante didn’t hold back in his assessments of the quality of the pitch in the aftermath of Nice’s 0-0 draw with Brest. The Brazilian defender called the pitch “The worst pitch in Ligue 1“. Nice manager Francesco Farioli has also voiced his discontent at the pitch’s state saying “It disrupted my sleep.”
An official press release from the City of Nice has confirmed that the pitch will be relayed before Nice’s next home Ligue 1 match against Marseille. Nice will face off against Marseille at the Allianz Riviera on the 21st October. The Rugby World Cup will come to its conclusion on the 28th October.
