Eduardo Camavinga defends Jean-Clair Todibo who was filmed laughing during minute’s silence

Jean-Clair Todibo (23) was filmed laughing during the minute’s silence, in memory of the victim of the Israel-Gaza conflict, as well as a teacher killed in Arras, that preceded France’s 2-1 victory over the Netherlands on Friday. International teammate Eduardo Camavinga (20) has now come to his defence.

Todibo received a late call-up by Didier Deschamps following multiple withdrawals through injury. The OGC Nice centre-back, who made his Les Bleus debut during the last international break, started Friday night’s fixture in Amsterdam from the bench. Prior to the match, a minute’s silence was held in memory of the victims of the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, as well as a teacher killed in Arras earlier that week. However, during this minute’s silence, Todibo was filmed laughing.

Speaking ahead of France’s friendly against Scotland on Tuesday, Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga defended his international teammate. “I have not really kept up with all that (the incident). You have to know that JC (Jean-Clair Todibo) is a good person. It has simply been misinterpreted,” said Camavinga in a conference transcribed by RMC Sport
