Montpellier centre-back Maxime Estève considering Club Brugge switch

Club Brugge are showing interest in the signing of promising Montpellier centre-back Maxime Estève (21), according to a report this Wednesday from Foot Mercato. The Montpellier youth product is one of the best young centre-backs in Ligue 1. Like his free-scoring teammate Elye Wahi, Estève is expected to part ways with the club that formed him should an appropriate offer be made. L’Équipe broke the news last January that Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Hove Albion were interested in his signing.

The French publication also reported last month that Bundesliga side Union Berlin were willing to acquire his services in exchange of a €7m transfer fee. Now, Foot Mercato understands that Club Brugge are targeting Estève and that the latter is considering the opportunity to join the Belgian Pro League side, currently sitting 5th. Montpellier looks to have already anticipated Estève’s departure after signing Swiss international centre-back Bećir Omeragić (21) on a free transfer.
