Exclusive | West Ham preparing approach for Montpellier’s Elye Wahi

Sources contacted by Get French Football News have revealed that West Ham United are preparing an offensive for Montpellier’s Elye Wahi (20).

Wahi is one of the most sought-after players in Ligue 1 this summer. Chelsea made an opening offer, worth a reported €28m, which was subsequently rejected. The Blues are yet to return with an improved offer. Laurent Nicollin, speaking to RMC Sport, has also confirmed interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Benfica, whilst, on Thursday, Foot Mercato and RMC Sport revealed that Paris Saint-Germain had made an enquiry. France U21 international Wahi is also a target for Eintracht Frankfurt, who could yet lose Randal Kolo Muani this summer.

As revealed by sources contacted by Get French Football NewsWest Ham have an interest in Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun, who has been the subject of a bid from AS Monaco. The Hammers attempted to agree provisional terms with the USMNT forward, but Balogun favours a move abroad at this stage.

West Ham’s attention has therefore turned to Wahi. The East London clubs are in talks with the player in order to ascertain Wahi’s willingness to join the club ahead of potentially making a more concrete approach.
