William Saliba withdraws from France squad, Jean-Clair Todibo called up to replace him

As confirmed by a communiqué from the French national team, Arsenal defender William Saliba (22) has withdrawn from Didier Deschamps’ squad to face the Netherlands and Scotland during the upcoming international break. OGC Nice defender Jean Clair-Todibo (23) has been called up to replace the Arsenal man, who picked up a toe injury during the Gunner’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

Saliba will stay with Arsenal to be treated during the international break, a decision made after France boss Deschamps consulted with national team doctor Dr Franck Le Gall. Todibo, according to the official communiqué from Les Bleus, is expected to arrive at Clairefontaine on Monday afternoon. The 23-year-old is called up a second time at the expense of the Arsenal defender, having joined the France squad in the previous international window.

Les Bleus will face the Netherlands in Amsterdam next Friday evening in Euro 2024 qualifying before heading to Lille’s Stade Pierre-Mauroy for an international friendly against Scotland.
