West Ham and Chelsea face two new rival bids for striker Elye Wahi

As reported by Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, West Ham United will have to face strong competition in their pursuit of Montpellier’s young striker, Elye Wahi, as the transfer window draws to a close.

Having missed out on Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom due to a rival bid from Ajax, Champions League side Lens are shifting their focus to Wahi in their search for a forward. The Lens recruitment team has accelerated talks with Wahi in recent hours and is ready to pay up to the €35m asking price for the 20-year-old player.

However, Wahi will need convincing as Chelsea, PSG, and especially Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested in the striker. The German club are the most competitive for now after having a €28m bid rejected by Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin but remain persistent in trying to find a deal with the Ligue 1 side.

Reportedly sceptical of the current Chelsea project, it was reported earlier this week that Wahi had decided to join West Ham, but the Hammers are also considering Metz’s Georgian striker, Georges Mikautadze.
