Christophe Galtier considered as Pierre Aristouy replacement at Nantes

The Ligue 1 season may only be one matchday old, but FC Nantes manager Pierre Aristouy’s position is already coming under threat, according to L’ÉquipeChristophe Galtier is being considered as a potential replacement.

Aristouy was internally promoted last season when Les Canaris made the decision to sack Antoine Kombouaré. His arrival didn’t bring about a dramatic change in fortunes, but a win against already-relegated SCO Angers on the final day of the season saw Nantes narrowly avoid relegation. Aristouy was then handed the role on a permanent basis.

However, with just two wins in ten (including pre-season fixtures), his job is already at risk. Nantes began the season with a loss against Toulouse and, determined not to once again be embroiled in a relegation battle, the club are already considering the managerial position.

L’Équipe report that Nantes are strongly considering approaching Galtier, who is out of a job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. The club denies reaching out to the Frenchman, but when they did in June, Galtier declined. There is therefore no guarantee that Galtier would accept an offer from Nantes, but the pressure is certainly already on Aristouy.
