Nantes pushing to sign Rennes’ Matthis Abline and Valencia’s Eray Cömert

FC Nantes are looking to sign Rennes forward Matthis Abline (20) and Valencia centre-back Eray Cömert (25), according to reports this Wednesday from Ouest-France.

The outlet understands that Nantes are in advanced talks with their Rennes counterparts over a loan move with a permanent option for Abline. The 20-year-old Stade Rennais youth product is the subject of interest from several mid-table Ligue 1 sides, such as Metz and Le Havre, as well as EFL Championship sides Middlesbrough and Sunderland. However, OuestFrance reports that Abline would favour a move to Les Canaris. Abline has logged twelve goals and six assists in 64 games played with Rennes as well as with Le Havre and Auxerre, two clubs he joined on loan these past two seasons. Pierre Aristouy’s side are in the market for a centre-forward following their failure to land Fiorentina’s Christian Kouamé.

Nantes are also exploring a deal to sign Valencia CF centre-back Eray Cömert. The Switzerland international has been left out of the squad by Che coach Rubén Baraja this summer. The 25-year-old centre-back has not played for Valencia CF since May 21st, when his side defeated Real Madrid in a La Liga game marred by racist insults aimed at Brazilian winger Vinícius Júnior. Nantes are said to be in the running to sign Cömert on loan. The Ligue 1 are in the market for a centre-back after pulling out of a deal to sign Boavista defender Chidozie Awaziem. Meanwhile. Nantes have officially announced the signing of Corinthians midfielder Adson.
