Official | Alban Lafont signs contract extension with Nantes until 2027

Nantes have officially confirmed that French goalkeeper Alban Lafont (24) has signed a long-term contract extension with the club. The 24-year-old has signed a new deal which will see him extend his time at the Stade de la Beaujoire until June 2027.

Alban Lafont was reportedly a target for Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window but instead, they opted to sign Arsenal’s Matt Turner. In an attempt to avert further interest in the former Fiorentina stopper, Les Canaris opened contract talks with Lafont on a new deal until 2027 and have managed to convince him to commit his long-term future to the club.

The former French U21 international is currently set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a collapsed lung when clattering the post in Nantes’ 2-1 defeat against his former club Toulouse. The French stopper is expected to be out for up to another 6 weeks and Rémy Descamps is now deputising for Lafont in his absence.
