L’Équipe have confirmed Foot Mercato’s reporting that Amiens SC’s Formose Mendy (22) is set to join FC Lorient later today. The Senegalese international was also a target for Ligue 1 rivals OGC Nice.
Mendy will sign a five-year deal with Les Merlus, becoming the second Mendy to join Lorient this week, following the club’s signing of former Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy (29) on Wednesday. After a ruling that found him not guilty of seven accounts of rape and another of attempted rape, the former France international signed a two-year deal with the Breton club.
Formose Mendy is a Senegal international centre-back, who during his time in Ligue 2, has featured in 63 matches across two seasons. He will join Lorient for €7.5m later today. His arrival at the Stade du Moustoir comes despite interest Nice, who are still yet to make their first signing in this current transfer window.
